Now for the good: Set up on the MX870 was flawless, with in 30 minutes I was printing, faxing, scanning, and copying. I read in a couple of reviews that the fax process was two step. 1. print, 2. fax. I did not find this to be true. With my mac - running OSX 10.6.4 the printer/scanner/printer/copier works flawlessly. I have printed a few photos from our recent vacation. The photo quality is equal to the HP that recently died on me. If you print from a cold start, the printer does take a little longer to warm up. But if you do not turn off the printer, from select print to printing is very fast. To Print a typical page is slightly slower than my old HP - but this is not a problem for me. I print maybe 50 - 75 pages a week. The scan function is a bit different that my old HP. It took me a few times to figure out the Cannon fax process, but of coarse I did not read the instructions. Over all - this is a great printer. I have only owned this unit for a few weeks - but first impressions are VERY GOOD! I paid $149.00.

The MX870 is a good product that has performed well in the month that I have been using it. I connected via ethernet so I cannot evaulate the wireless connection. I could not find a user guide in pdf format. This would be helpful. I still like to have them on paper.

It just glows, right out of the box. I had a great one for five years and this one is even better. Uses ink like all of them, but if that is a failure, it is it's only one. That ink produces perfect pictures, so I can easily deal with it. My wife is now happily using the old one.
